Consulting Jobs are the ones that are offered by consulting companies. These jobs require the skill of a person in implementing certain packages like ERP, CRM et al. These packages are generally available in the market provided by different vendors but they have to be customized by the organization (which ever purchases those packages) in order to meet the business requirements of their customers. So, these organizations/companies hire the consultants (to be specific ERP & CRM consultants) from different BPOs or Consulting companies to customize the packages they have purchased.

ERP & CRM consultants are the most demanding jobs in the consultancy arena. These are highly lucrative jobs and the work associated with it is also highly cumbersome. First the consultant (who so ever it may be the ERP or the CRM one) has to understand the vast structure or the numerous business requirements of the company and then use tools to customize the package according to their business requirements. They say, buying a package is not a cost incurring activity when compared to customizing it. Customizing a package involves the time or say working hours of many skilled officials and the process (of customizing) itself is a long running one.

The expenses bore by a company are extremely huge. There are many cases where even the big firms like DELL Corporation took back their stand on implementing those (especially ERP) packages after loosing a lump sum amount of money in it. Nevertheless there also are the cases where the productivity and performance of the company have raised to benchmark level after successful implementation of those packages. The output of the implementation of those packages successfully is tremendous and unbelievably outstanding. It (the success of implementation of packages) achieves unprecedented results and heightens the value of the company.

There are many companies who implement these packages and they require people of extreme skills in those areas. The jobs available in this category ERP consultant, CRM consultant et al. Companies which offer these jobs are SAP, ORACLE, and PEOPLE SOFT (Subsidiary of ORACLE). The money and risk involved in these jobs is equally huge. There are actually different modules in this job (especially in the ERP) which are technical, functional and basis. Technical module & Basis modules concerns with the technical and network related issues respectively. Where as the functional module deals with implementation aspects. These companies generally hire graduates in technical field and skilled in management practices.
